AGRA Baymont Completes Conversion Work for One of the Largest Utilities in the Netherlands
Smallworld was the platform of choice selected by Provinciale Noord-Brabantse Energie Maatschappij (PNEM) of the Netherlands to manage the large network of information they use in supplying gas, electricity, and cable TV to over one million customers. PNEM proceeded to work with Realworld Systems who developed a pilot system and PNEM's network planning tool in March 1997.

In April 1997, AGRA Baymont was selected by PNEM to perform a pilot conversion project to the Smallworld environment, utilizing PNEM posting tools and measurements on record for precise placement. Based on the success of the pilot, AGRA Baymont was awarded the contract for conversion of PNEM's electric facility records, and work commenced in September 1997.

In October 1999, AGRA Baymont submitted its final extract of the PNEM project for acceptance. There were a total of 52 extracts, or deliveries, from four regions of Holland that represented various feature densities. Accepted on first delivery were 46 of the 52 extracts (88.5%).

"We are extremely pleased with final results from the project and the performance of our production teams. The ability to make the project deliveries with first time acceptance is critical to the overall success of the project and our reputation," said Bob Brown, President and CEO of AGRA Baymont, Inc.

AGRA Baymont has developed industry expertise in the process of capturing data within Smallworld and has applied this methodology effectively to the PNEM project and several other projects worldwide. AGRA Baymont facilities are recognized internationally for their record success in working on Energy projects in the Smallworld platform.

"We evaluate the client's needs carefully and use Smallworld for data capture when agreed to by our customer," said Soon Boon Seng, Managing Director of South East Asia where the PNEM project was completed in AGRA Baymont's 100% owned production facilities.

"The staff that we employ are highly educated in this field due to their extended studies as well as to internal training. Malaysia and Singapore were once under British rule, so the English language is also part of our cultural heritage-all of our staff members communicate in English," said Soon.

The scope of the original project included the delivery of 13,500km of electric cable service and required 32 Smallworld licenses. AGRA Baymont ultimately captured over 9,000km of trench that contained 17,000km of high and low voltage cables. Source data was obtained from drawings at scales of 1:500, 1:1000, and 1:2500. AGRA Baymont performed "1 to 1" conversion at a 1:500 scale.

"We've owned our offshore production facilities for over six years, and the operations are very sophisticated and experienced," said Brown. "Mr. Soon is an expert in field of AM/FM/GIS and data conversion and a well respected businessman, both here and abroad," said Brown.

AGRA Baymont has production facilities located in Clearwater, Florida at the site of company headquarters as well as in Malaysia and Singapore.

"We maximize the impact of time zones to get a 24 hour production cycle," said Brown.

AGRA Baymont is a wholly owned subsidiary of AGRA Inc.
