CARIS LOTS Version 2.0 launched at reception in New York
June 1, 2000 - CARIS presented the first demonstration of CARIS LOTS (Law of the Sea) Version 2.0 at a Software Showcase and Reception hosted in New York City.

Three CARIS employees together with many diplomatic, legal, and technical Law of the Sea experts were present in New York City on May 1, 2000 for a special United Nations meeting on Article 76 of Law of the Sea. This was the first Open Meeting of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS).

CARIS took advantage of the timeliness of the release of Version 2.0 of CARIS LOTS and this meeting by hosting a Reception and Software Showcase on the evening of May 1st at the Regal U.N. Plaza Hotel. In a casual environment with drinks and hors-d’oeuvres, CARIS employees demonstrated the over 100 changes incorporated into this latest version.

This Version of CARIS LOTS has a new licensing structure better adapted to meet the diverse applications of Law of the Sea software. The structure can be adapted for demonstration, for Academic Institutions, for Limits and Boundaries, and for full Article 76 continental slope calculation.

Also included with this release are the two-minute world bathymetric and world shoreline datasets and an extract utility for user-defined regions.

The CARIS LOTS Browser (free demo CD) was distributed at the Reception. This LOTS viewer comes bundled with a desktop study for Eastern Canada and nicely demonstrates the functionality of the full software package. Over 70 copies were given out that evening.
