Product to Assist in Network Design of Italy's New BLU Network

RESTON, Va., May 30 - Comsearch announced today that Nokia of Finland has selected Comsearch's premier microwave path design software tool, IQ-Link, to assist in the design of the microwave interconnect for Italy's BLU GSM network in a deal valued at over $200K in software licenses and support.

On February 3, 2000, Nokia announced it had signed a turnkey contract with Italy's new GSM mobile operator, BLU, to supply and rollout network solutions for BLU's GSM 1800 network. The turnkey deal is comprised of a comprehensive range of services including Transmission Network Planning and Design. The IQ-Link product will be used by Nokia to support BLU in the implementation of their network.

IQ-Link, a comprehensive engineering software tool that performs complex spectrum allocation and frequency engineering for hundreds of microwave links easily, including multiple link scenarios. The tool enables a customer to display GIS data, perform path and reliability calculations, and conduct fast, comprehensive interference analyses in order to have a complete solution for the planning and designing of point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and wireless local loop networks.

"We are very pleased with Nokia's acquisition of another IQ-Link license," said David Donohoe, vice president of Information Services at Comsearch. "This indicates our product's strengths and flexibility for the initial design, rollout and maintenance of microwave networks to interconnect mobile networks."

"Nokia recognizes that IQ-Link is an accurate and reliable tool for microwave planning," said Steve Meador, IQ-Link product manager at Comsearch. "In addition, IQ-Link makes it possible to rapidly design the fixed wireless network necessary to connect the base station infrastructure."
