Cerulean Technology and PEI Form Alliance to Provide One-Stop Solution For E-911, Mapping and Wireless Mobile Applications
SALT LAKE CITY, June 13, 2000-- Visit Cerulean at NENA 2000 Annual Conference at booth #723 and PEI at booth #403

Cerulean Technology and Plant Equipment, Inc. (PEI(TM)) today announced the signing of an agreement that will provide a one-stop solution for the mobile emergency management needs of public safety agencies. At NENA 2000 this week, Cerulean and PEI are demonstrating their respective mobile and E-911 products including integrated mapping functionality in Cerulean's new version of PacketCluster(R) Patrol(TM).

The agreement calls for Cerulean to market and re-sell PEI's ORION mapping applications in conjunction with Cerulean's leading wireless mobile suite of products. In addition, Cerulean and PEI are working together on development initiatives to further enhance the extent of integration between PEI's E-911 applications and Cerulean's PacketCluster(R). The PacketCluster family of wireless mobile products from Cerulean are installed in more than 650 public safety agencies across the United States.

In-vehicle mapping allows law enforcement officers and emergency personnel to more quickly and responsively act on emergencies. Officers can obtain vital geographic information such as street and intersection layouts or building locations on their patrol car-based laptop computers. This, combined with integrated automatic vehicle location (AVL) technology and integrated computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems, enables police to reduce risk by helping them make decisions more quickly and accurately. Dispatchers can also better target emergency calls by locating and contacting officers closer to the incident, increasing officer efficiency.

"Public safety agencies are no different from the business world in their desire for easy to implement and manage technology solutions," said David Rosi, vice president of marketing at Cerulean. "With this agreement, public safety agencies can expedite the purchase and implementation of fully integrated mapping and mobile applications, resulting in more efficient and responsive emergency personnel."

"Our alliance with Cerulean will provide public safety with a more seamless data stream from call to car," said Tim Fuller, president of Plant Equipment, Inc. (PEI(TM)). "The PEI/Cerulean integrated product suite is driven by the demand for more sophisticated on-board mapping and information systems. The alliance between our two companies should push the technological envelope and provide an excellent opportunity for both companies to grow and diversify as needed."

Cerulean and PEI will demonstrate their respective wireless mobile and E-911 products at the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) 2000 Annual Conference from Sunday, June 11 to Thursday, June 15, 2000 at the Salt Palace Convention Center, Salt Lake City, Nev. Visit Cerulean at booth #723 and PEI at booth #403.
