multi-access European portal
Webraska services available to users in Web, WAP, call-centre and Interactive Voice
Response formats
Poissy, France, 19 June 2000 - Webraska Mobile Technologies, the world's first provider of
maps, traffic information and navigation services on Internet mobile phones, announces that
it has been selected as provider of traffic and itinerary services to the French version of
Vivendi and Vodafone's multi-access European Internet portal Vizzavi which is being
launched today.
Webraska calculates the best itinerary from and to any destination in France, providing
Vizzavi users with a choice of means of transport (car, public transport or walking), journey
time, and instructions in detailed street-by-street as well as summarised format. Car drivers
can choose between the shortest or fastest route (avoiding traffic congestion) or between
routes with or without motorway tolls. A "memory" functionality ensures that past itineraries
can be easily stored and retrieved. This service is available free of charge on Vizzavi's Web
site in sections "Idées Voyages" and "C'est Pratique". Itineraries can also be requested at
the Vizzavi call-centre by dialling 7272 from an SFR mobile phone.
Personalised real-time traffic information in and around Paris are provided to Vizzavi users
both on the Vizzavi Web site and on the users' mobile phones, either using WAP or
Interactive Voice Response technologies. Traffic conditions are provided for specific urban
and suburban routes chosen by the users and for specific areas within Paris. Vizzavi users
enter their preferences on the Web site then receive this information on their mobile phones
via WAP messages which are automatically sent to them at their preferred date and time.
The traffic information service is available on Vizzavi's "Toute l'info" section. Traffic
information is also obtainable by an operator by contacting a call-centre on telephone
number 7272. Both itineraries and traffic information will soon be transmitted by SMS, e.mail
or WAP.
"Vizzavi is the type of service that Webraska is ideally placed to collaborate with: it is
international, multi-access and useful. It allows us to offer our combined expertise in
handling multiple access modes, real-time information, personalisation and sophisticated
functionalities to provide services that people need every day", commented Jean-Michel
Durocher, CEO and founder of Webraska.
