iM:Work Brings Wireless Communications and The Web to Field Service Organizations
iMEDEON REVOLUTIONIZES WORK PLANNING AND WORK EXECUTION MARKET WITH iM:WORK

ALPHARETTA, GA -- February 14, 2000 -- iMedeon, Inc. today pioneers the work planning and work execution systems market with general availability (GA) of a new, 100% web-based application suite, iM:Work. This application brings the benefits of both wireless and web technologies to an organization's field service staff and existing front-and-back-office systems.

iM:Work is a configurable, scalable solution which provides field service organizations with real-time, mission-critical information. By tying together customer service and field service, organizations can expect a significant competitive advantage through improved decision making, faster response time to work orders, higher productivity, lower costs, and happier customers.

Customer service is improved by aligning the field service representative with critical members of the organization to deliver informed, front-line customer service. Most importantly, iM:Work dramatically improves an organization's performance, generating tremendous bottom-line value.

"Start-up vendors, such as iMedeon, are driving innovation in mobile data solutions, primarily via thin-client architectures and optimization technology," says Rick Nicholson, vice president and Director of Energy Information Strategies at METAGroup. "These companies are moving quickly to satisfy the needs of users for new work management systems that support cross-trained field staff and enterprise application integration (EAI)."

iM:Work is the cornerstone for the changes to come in field service work planning and work execution, especially in the utility, telecom, and high-technology industries," says Joe Mediate, president and CEO, iMedeon, Inc. "iM:Work's scalable and flexible architecture allows enterprises to configure the solution to support changing business needs with minimal effort. Using its set of sophisticated tools, organizations can easily configure while ensuring maintainability and upgradeability through the life of the solution."

iM:Work is a comprehensive web-based application suite, designed from the ground up to optimize real-time Internet data exchange. It was built using the award-winning SilverStream Application Server that supports an open architecture and industry standards from HTML to Enterprise Java Beans.

The iM:Work application suite consists of: iM:Workcenter(TM), iM:Portal(TM), iM:Field(TM), iM:Collect(TM), and iM:Optimizer(TM). iM:Workcenter(TM)is the hub of the application suite from which work dispatching, crew administration, work order generation, and reporting functions originate. Sharing information among customer service, maintenance, and the many different existing systems lets iM:Workcenter(TM) optimize and electronically connect field crews. It matches the best skills, equipment, spare parts, and proximity to the work location and enables optimized, centralized response to all tasks such as customer-generated work orders, planned maintenance, or emergency work orders.

iM:Portal(TM) is a set of standard portal applications, using XML Messaging that facilitates bi-directional communication between front and back office systems. It collects, integrates, and assembles the information from Customer Information Systems(CIS), Asset Management Systems, and Outage Management Systems. By consolidating this data, work crews are scheduled more efficiently -- which boosts field force productivity and dramatically lowers costs.

iM:Optimizer(TM) is the scheduling engine that provides unique optimization capabilities for work orders, personnel, resources, and logistics. Mathematical optimization routines match the equipment required, available parts, best skills, and proximity resulting in the most intelligent resource deployment, leading to lower costs and improved work efficiencies.

iM:Field(TM)is the wirelessly enabled mobile client of the iM:Work product suite. It works in conjunction with iM:Workcenter to give field personnel constant, two-way communications with corporate enterprise applications and front and back office systems. iM:Field provides the field organization with timely, accurate information about work orders and work status, allowing them to easily resolve customer issues and gain productivity.

iM:Collect(TM)is a configurable data collection environment which allows field personnel to quickly collect and accurately maintain data from the field. It helps companies to obtain complete records of remote assets, inventory, or any field-based data for better tracking and more efficient resource management.

Using advanced wireless technologies of Radio Frequency (RF), Satellite, and Public Data Networks, iM:Work delivers the information that businesses need to manage daily tasks, to measure performance, and to improve efficiency of the mobile workforce.
