AT&T Wireless Selects MapQuest.com to Provide Driving Directions and Real-time Traffic Reports for AT&T Digital PocketNet Service
NEW YORK, May 18, 2000 - MapQuest's 'find the nearest' location-based service featured on 'Find It' section

MapQuest.com, Inc. (Nasdaq:MQST), a leader in online and wireless destination information solutions, today announced its partnership with AT&T Wireless Services, Inc. (NYSE:AWE), a leading nationwide provider of advanced wireless voice and data services.

MapQuest believes that this partnership will continue its drive to have its services available to consumers any time, on any device. MapQuest.com now provides users of the new AT&T Digital PocketNet(SM) service with three valuable MapQuest resources for local travelers: door-to-door driving directions, real-time traffic reports and location-based services to 'find the nearest' local businesses and attractions in their area.

The AT&T Digital PocketNet service delivers a personalized wireless Internet phone experience by providing free, unlimited access to 40 leading Web sites, including MapQuest.com. This service is also available on the AT&T Personal Web Site, allowing individuals to use their PocketNet service on both their wireless phone and a computer with Internet access.

MapQuest, a leading Internet site for maps, driving directions, real-time traffic and business listings, is a featured site on the PocketNet Service, where it provides the same valuable and convenient online travel-related services at www.mapquest.com to consumers while on the go. MapQuest's wireless service for PocketNet is specifically designed for the mobile phone interface, making it quick and easy to search for driving directions by address, zipcode, airport or business listing. MapQuest's location-based service offers categories especially useful to the mobile traveler, including detailed directions to the area's nearest restaurants, hotels, banks/ ATMs, retailers and gas stations in the Find It section. Users can obtain traffic information by metropolitan market, or along any driving route calculated by the service, allowing them to compute a route to their destination, then see what current traffic conditions might affect their drive.

"MapQuest is continuing its mission to achieve anytime, anywhere consumer access through partnerships with premier wireless service providers like AT&T Wireless Services," said Michael Mulligan, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MapQuest.com. "AT&T's launch of the AT&T Digital PocketNet service is the latest sign that the wireless Internet is here to stay. MapQuest's location-based services continue to be among the most widely requested wireless content by mobile phone users, and we are excited to be at the forefront of the wireless revolution."

"We are extremely pleased to include MapQuest, a well-known and highly regarded brand in the online travel space, as part of our new service," said Kendra Vandermeulen, Senior Vice President, Product Development at AT&T Wireless Services. "MapQuest has consistently been among the leading Internet content providers in the wireless Internet industry, and their directions, traffic and 'Biz Locator' services will be of great value to our users."

MapQuest.com provides driving directions and travel information to cellular phones, PDAs and speech recognition devices. MapQuest's extensive list of wireless partners includes Sprint PCS, Nokia, Yahoo! Mobile, OmniSky, Speechworks, Nuance and BTCellnet's Genie portal. MapQuest is also the exclusive mapping service provider for the Palm VII wireless personal organizer and OracleMobile.com, the first comprehensive wireless Internet portal.
