Intergraph Public Safety Wins Integrated Justice Project; Advanced Technology to Manage Emergencies
HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 18, 2000--Intergraph Public Safety (IPS) (Nasdaq: INGR) has been selected by the Ontario Integrated Justice Project (IJP) to provide a computer aided dispatch (CAD) system. The contract award is valued at $4.5 million (U.S.).

The Integrated Justice Project is an integral part of the business plans for the Ontario Ministries of the Attorney General, Solicitor General and Correctional Services. The vision of the Integrated Justice Project is to achieve a modern, effective, and accessible justice system by providing better and faster information sharing across the justice system.

The police stakeholders within IJP are the Ontario Municipal and Provincial Police Automation Cooperative (OMPPAC) police agencies, which includes the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and 40 municipal police services.

The IPS CAD system will replace the current text-based dispatch system with a modern, comprehensive solution running on a Windows NT platform, utilizing an integrated Oracle database and intelligent map. The IPS CAD system constitutes a major upgrade on the desktop of OMPPAC agency dispatchers and calltakers.

"Intergraph's CAD system is an important part of the Integrated Justice Project," says IJP police project manager Michael Rogers. "It will help police rank situations by risk, and provide officers on the street with information they need to be able to get to the scene of a crime faster."

Dr. Roger O. Coupland, president of Intergraph Public Safety, said, "The Intergraph Public Safety solution addresses the CAD needs of the Integrated Justice Project and the Province of Ontario today, as well as providing a sound technology platform for future enhancements. Intergraph Public Safety is proud to provide the technology to assist IJP in protecting the lives and property of both its Public Safety personnel as well as its citizens."
