Autodesk and Symbol Technologies to Bring Enterprise Applications to Mobile Workforces
Companies to Partner on Sales, Marketing, and Development of Autodesk® OnSite

SAN RAFAEL, Calif., May 23, 2000-Autodesk, Inc., the leading design software company and Symbol Technologies, Inc. today announced a partnership for Autodesk OnSite technology and Symbol mobile devices. In a recent report, International Data Corp. (IDC) named Symbol the vertical applications device market leader. Immediate availability of Autodesk OnSite was also announced today . Autodesk OnSite is the first enterprise solution for bringing design and location- based information to the point-of-work via mobile devices. The two companies will collaborate on sales, marketing and development opportunities, leveraging mutual strength in multiple vertical industries. Autodesk OnSite will be demonstrated at the Symbol Software Developers Conference being held June 7-9 in Palm Springs, California. “Symbol’s partnership with Autodesk builds our presence in the exploding enterprise mobile computing market,” said Keith Kanneg, Senior Director Software Marketing, Symbol Technologies, Inc. “As adoption of mobile devices continues within corporations, the next step is to integrate these devices within the corporate information system. Autodesk OnSite provides this link and brings visual data such as maps and designs into the equation, which is enormously useful to field workers.”

“The mobile market is a new opportunity for Autodesk. To fully seize the potential of this market, we wanted to team with strong partners. Symbol’s significant presence in the vertical markets we serve made this an obvious fit,” said Carol Bartz, Chairman, CEO, and President of Autodesk, Inc.

Autodesk OnSite Overview

Solutions built with Autodesk OnSite deliver high-precision asset management information and applications to mobile devices using multi-tier architecture. The information delivered to the field is live vector images that allow interaction with the data. Through its reliable connections to a central database, Autodesk OnSite overcomes the data integration and duplication issues that plague mobile applications. Employees can now analyze and update corporate data remotely to ensure complete, current information.

Pricing and Availability

Autodesk OnSite is available immediately worldwide and will be sold direct by Autodesk. The Autodesk OnSite mobile enterprise solution includes software, application design, development services, maintenance, training, and technical support.
