GDT Promotes Forseth to Senior VP and Bergeron to Director Database Improvement Department
LEBANON, N.H., May 23, 2000- Geographic Data Technology, Inc., a developer of premier map databases,
announced today the promotion of Ken Forseth to senior vice president and Bruce Bergeron to director of the database improvement
department. Both positions will be key as GDT continues to enhance its geographic databases for use within new and emerging markets.
Forseth was promoted from vice president of operations to senior vice president in recognition of his expanding management role as GDT
continues its record growth. In his new role, he will continue to oversee GDT's engineering, data compilation, quality assurance, and
information technology activities. He will also play an expanded role in the company's overall management direction and its strategic and
long-term planning processes.
Forseth joined GDT in 1992 as manager of testing and software support. He became director of information systems in 1993, and vice
president of operations in 1994. Prior to joining GDT, Forseth was founder and president of Active Systems, Inc., a computer
engineering and production company. Before that, he was manager of operations for Allen-Bradley Company (Creonics Operation).
Forseth holds a master of engineering degree from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College and a bachelor's degree in
engineering science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He is a former president of the Board of Directors of the
Upper Valley Community Credit Union and currently serves as a credit union business consultant and committee member.
Bergeron was promoted from manager to director of GDT's Database Improvement Department in recognition of his superb leadership
of the department over the last year. The Database Improvement Department is responsible for the overall creation, management and
maintenance of GDT's core databases from which the company creates geographic products ranging from routable street and address
networks to telecommunications, postal and census geography. The Database Improvement Department has experienced rapid growth
over the last couple of years as GDT has entered new location services markets such as in-car navigation, call center services, and
automatic vehicle location (AVL) services. The growth in the Database Improvement Department has also supported GDT's continued
expansion into markets such as utilities, telecommunications, and insurance.
In his new role, Bergeron will continue to oversee the Database Improvement Department's collection, compilation, maintenance and
quality assurance efforts. He will also join the executive management team and will participate in the company's long-range planning to
ensure that GDT maintains its leadership as the only data provider to offer complete and detailed coast-to-coast coverage of U.S. streets
and addresses.
Before joining GDT, Bergeron was a regional manager for Johnson & Dix Fuel Corporation where he was responsible for all aspects of
the company's regional operations, including resource allocation, customer service, budgeting, and marketing. He earned his bachelor's
degree in business administration from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire. Bergeron
is the president of the Greater Lebanon Youth Hockey Association and serves as a volunteer coach for hockey, soccer and baseball. He
is a past president of the Lebanon Riverside Rotary Club and a member of the board of directors for the N.H. Better Home Heat
Council.
