Intergraph Government Solutions Awarded $1.75 Million Contract by South Carolina Department of Transportation
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., May 22, 2000 -- Intergraph to Implement Enterprisewide Transportation Information Management System

Intergraph Government Solutions today announced the award of a $1.75M contract by the South Carolina Department of Transportation's Information Technology Division for the implementation of an enterprisewide roadway inventory information management system. This decision support tool will enable the SC DOT to better plan for transportation systems operations, maintenance and future expansions, track event data and attributes, and substantially increase the ability to manage information and assets while automating report generation and analysis.

"We have developed an efficient, user friendly desktop solution that will transform and integrate disparate legacy processes into a single enterprise tool for information management and dissemination," said Hank Dipietro, vice president of Intergraph's government and transportation solutions. "By utilizing a process-centric approach and powering the decision support system with GeoMedia(R), Intergraph's industry leading GIS software, the SC DOT will be better equipped to serve the public and to concentrate on business critical issues," Dipietro continued.

Intergraph Government Solutions will migrate critical legacy roadway inventory data from flat files to a relational database with a user-friendly desktop interface. End users who rely on information from traffic, pavement, bridge and railroad to report, maintain, analyze, query, view and map the necessary data will be better able to make decisions and maintain efficient operations throughout the enterprise. During subsequent phases of the project, the system will incorporate the ability to view photolog pavement images and associated roadway information which will enable the end user to make better decisions faster.

IGS has a long-standing relationship with the SC DOT and also has extensive expertise in the implementation of technologically advanced roadway inventory management systems where decision support at the desktop or web is required. South Carolina is the second state to implement this system and several others are anticipated in the near future.
