ObjectFX Selected by Locate Networks to Deliver Innovative Location-Based Services

Locate Networks cites superior performance and development speed in choosing ObjectFX as a partner for location-based services to multiple wireless communications devices.

ST. PAUL, Minn., Oct. 31, 2000—ObjectFX Corporation, a leading provider of Web-based visualization software, today announced that Locate Networks, Inc., a provider of wireless location-based services that manage and locate valued assets and people, has selected ObjectFX’s SpatialFXTM location/mapping services engine to translate real-time geographic coordinates into addresses that can be displayed as map or text format on multiple communications devices, including pagers, handheld devices and computers.

ObjectFX’s SpatialFX architecture provides multiple location services, including mapping, routing, geocoding and reverse geocoding. Locate Networks services will allow subscribers to locate a loved one or valuable asset via telephone, two-way wireless device or its secure website. An authorized user will receive the street address range and the device’s location indicated on a detailed, full-color map. “ObjectFX clearly is the best choice for delivering location-based information for wireless devices,” said Michael Crowson, co-founder and CEO of Locate Networks.

SpatialFX offered Locate Networks a solution that can be adapted for specific applications and can be scaled from hundreds of users to the millions that Locate Networks anticipates will use its services by 2003-04. Because SpatialFX is JavaTM-based, it ensures transparent display support for multiple desktop and wireless devices.

In making the announcement, ObjectFX Vice President of Sales Rhos Dyke said, “We’re extremely pleased to have excelled in meeting Locate Networks’ rigorous side-by-side product comparisons. Locate has demonstrated their superior grasp of L-commerce (location-based commerce) and is well ahead of other organizations that are trying to provide location-relevant services to a variety of industries.”
