APEX DATA SERVICES, INC. AWARDED GIS PROJECT BY SACRAMENTO MUNICIPAL UTILITY DISTRICT

HERNDON, VIRGINIA, October 30, 2000 - Apex Data Services, Inc. (Apex), a leading provider of data conversion and related services for utility and government markets, announced today the award of a major data conversion project for the Sacramento Municipal Utility District’s (SMUD) G/Electric geographic information system (GIS).

Apex was contracted to build a GFramme spatial database from SMUD’s existing electric facilities maps and records, and to furnish field data collection services to supplement the existing records. This initiative will provide support for one the first full implementations of Intergraph’s new GFramme product.

“Our win at SMUD highlights the power of our open-systems, Oracle-based conversion technology, DataWorks®. SMUD is taking a bold, pioneering step in integrating GIS technology with a company-wide, comprehensive SAP implementation for its business processes. Apex is delighted to be part of this trend-setting program,” said Dr. Shashikant Gupta, Apex’s President. “Perhaps no other component of the District’s Service Delivery Information Technology (SDIT) project is as critical or demanding as data conversion. We’re confident of Apex’s ability to deliver quality data. This belief is founded in our knowledge of Apex’s innovative tools and sound processes, competent staff, and proven track record. A highly successful partnership is envisioned,” said Jim Hayes, SMUD’s SDIT Project Manager.
