New Public Works Software Company Has Civil Engineering Heritage
LENEXA, KS - GBA Master Series, Inc. proudly announces its successful transition to become an
independent organization. This fall, the company concluded its separation from George Butler Associates,
Inc. (GBA), a 30-year-old, full-service engineering and architectural design firm also located in Lenexa,
Kansas.
GBA Master Series, Inc. is a software development company specializing in public works and water
resources software products. The company currently offers a suite of off-the-shelf, fully integrated
infrastructure management software applications used by municipalities, local and county governments,
public works and water resources agencies.
“Becoming an independent organization is a natural progression of our growth,” said Donald E. Pinkston, Jr.,
P.E., President of the newly formed GBA Master Series, Inc. Breaking away from our parent company will
enable us to focus entirely on developing software products while meeting the unique needs of our clients, he
said adding, “it will reinforce how serious we are about being a national software provider.”
“It’s a strategic decision which will enable us to continue to expand our capabilities and support our plans for
future growth,” inserted James C. Graham, P.E., Vice President of GBA Master Series, Inc. Graham
continued by noting the separation of the two companies provides an exciting new opportunity for consultants
from around the nation to partner with GBA Master Series, Inc. to provide software implementation services.
Services consultants could offer in regards to software implementation include the actual implementation,
needs assessment, data collection and conversion, mapping and GIS, hardware and network services, user
training, and capital improvements planning.
“Our staff, especially all of our professional civil engineers, is fully committed to designing and developing
the best software in the industry,” Graham said, “this is especially important today, as communities consider
the implications of the new Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines concerning
financial reporting.” These guidelines require governments to include information regarding infrastructure
assets in their annual financial statements for the first time. It affects states, cities, counties, and other
organizations under their jurisdiction.
GBA Master Series, Inc. staff includes 10 civil engineers that provide consultation, implementation and
technical services; five program analysts provide additional technical services. Several individuals deliver
client services along with sales and marketing services with activities ranging from business development,
