Navcom Technology, Inc.’s Starfire Network™ Expanding Its User Base

Offering Real-Time Differential Corrections yielding accuracies of less than one foot, 24 hours a day

Redondo Beach, CA- NavCom Technology, Inc. (NCT) announced that for the first time it is making its NCT-StarFire Network™ available to clients outside of John Deere and the agricultural market. The NCT-StarFire Network™ was designed and implemented by NavCom Technology, Inc. originally for Deere Precision Farming applications but NCT now foresees many more potential applications.

The NCT-StarFire Network™ is a subscription service that uses the GPS satellite system, L-band communication satellites, and a network of reference stations to deliver real-time high precision positioning and data messaging. The use of dual-frequency GPS receivers means unprecedented accuracy of better than 1 foot. It is a fully automated self-monitoring system of exceptional reliability with an up time of better than 99.9% . It requires only NavCom’s StarFire receiver, the SF-2000R™ to get this extraordinary reliability and accuracy.

NavCom expects that the NCT-StarFire Network™, with its precise positioning accuracies will find many new applications outside of the field of agriculture i.e. in mining, surveying and transportation (to name but a few). Currently available in North America and Australia, NavCom anticipates global coverage to be complete and available early in 2001.

NavCom Technology, Inc, a member of the John Deere Special Technologies Group, specializes in developing and manufacturing satellite navigation, communication, and GPS survey equipment. NavCom also provides technical and management consulting for advanced GPS and satellite communications. NavCom is a growing supplier of vehicle tracking and fleet management systems and services.
