Adoption of Quality Data Management Solutions by Two Leading French Automotive Manufacturers Reinforces PlanetCAD's Leadership Position

BOULDER, Colo. April 26, 2001 - PlanetCAD Inc. (AMEX-PCD), the world's leading developer of engineering application services and interoperability solutions for the manufacturing supply chain, and SPRING/CENIT, a leading reseller of CATIA and Enovia products, today announced that PSA Peugeot-Citroen and Renault Group have adopted PrescientQA(tm) as the solution of choice for enabling Quality Data Management(tm) (QDM) throughout their supply chains.

Quality Data Management is an engineering-centric process that saves money, time and effort by improving the quality and interoperability of engineering data as it passes through the automotive supply chain. PlanetCAD products enable the rapid implementation of QDM processes for manufacturers seeking to streamline operations, costs and production time on each project.

PSA Peugeot Citroen and Renault Group are implementing hundreds of seats of PrescientQA within their engineering design processes to improve and maintain high quality engineering data as it passes through the supply chain. PSA Peugeot-Citroen dominates the European automotive market with branded ranges of automotive vehicles and heavy goods vehicles. PSA Peugeot-Citroen was Europe's second-largest carmaker in 1999. Renault Group, upon its acquisition of the Nissan product line, is the world's sixth largest automotive group.

"PlanetCAD's business is to enable manufacturers to work faster, better and cheaper, regardless of the size of the operation," stated Jim Bracking, CEO and president of PlanetCAD. "The adoption of PrescientQA throughout the French automotive industry is a true endorsement for PlanetCAD, reinforcing the importance of quality data throughout the supply chain."

PlanetCAD's PrescientQA solutions measure, monitor and maintain engineering data quality using a series of leading-edge tools for engineering design. The products provide automated data quality checking, monitoring and improvement for computer-based design data across multiple computer-aided design (CAD) formats. Products include DesignQA(r), DriveQA(tm), GeometryQA(tm) and CertifyQA(tm).

"SPRING/CENIT and its customers understand the critical need for higher design standards and data quality in manufacturing in order to improve efficiency and save money," said Gilles Battier, President of SPRING. "PrescientQA has proved itself to these major manufacturers through rigorous testing and benchmarking as being the leading solution for Quality Data Management."

PSA Peugeot-Citroen selected the PrescientQA products following a detailed testing program within the organization. Renault Group has recently accomplished full implementation of the solution after a two-year pilot program within several engineering departments, using DesignQA and GeometryQA to improve design standards and geometry quality.
