IDELIX Announces Expansion to the USA!

VANCOUVER, B.C. – August 9, 2001 - IDELIX Software Inc., makers of the visualization technology known as Pliable Display Technology (PDT), today announced the opening of an office in Olympia, WA, marking its first expansion steps into the United States.

“This expansion is the next step in establishing a stronghold for our software within the Geographic Information Systems/Remote Sensing market,” said Stuart Bourhill, IDELIX President and COO. ”A move into the U.S. market presents great potential for us right now as we grow our customer base and look to expand into other vertical markets.”

Pliable Display Technology is a patents-pending virtual lens technology designed to improve the productivity and workflow efficiency of those who rely on their existing pan and zoom functions for data exploration and analysis. Users can efficiently navigate and analyze regions of interest within the focal region of the lens, while maintaining a view of the data set in its entirety. No information is hidden or moved off the display. This unique lens technology also supports scale dependent rendering, a library of configurable lenses and the real-time manipulation of raster, vector and hybrid data.

Heading up the new U.S. office is William T. (Tom) Wallace, Director of Business Development.

“Tom is new to the company and brings over 17 years experience in the GIS industry, working at an executive level for major GIS software providers and consultants including ESRI, GE Smallworld and LizardTech,” said Bourhill, “We’re very pleased to have Tom on board. His experience in the GIS industry, strong program and sales management skills, and proven leadership, are valuable assets to our U.S. implementation strategy.”

Said Wallace, ”Our visibility with Pliable Display Technology is growing rapidly. Feedback on our PliableGIS for ArcView 8.1 product has been extremely positive. Many customers of Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) have indicated their workflows will be significantly improved with this product. I’m very excited to come on board at IDELIX during this time of growth and expansion.”

IDELIX Software Inc., www.idelix.com, is a Vancouver-based software company focused on improving the presentation of data and images on computing devices. In July, the company’s Pliable Display Technology was recognized as the “Hottest Thing on the Floor” at the Intergraph GeoSpatial World Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
