CRWorld Training Solutions launch NEW Distance Learning Module

28 November 2001 - CRWorld Training Solutions, the training and consultancy division of The GeoInformation Group, in partnership with Kingston University today announced the launch of a unique, new Imagery Distance Learning module to compliment and enhance the internationally renowned Kingston University Professional Distance Learning Programme.

The module, written by leading academic GIS staff, offers students a complete introduction to geographic imagery including data delivery formats, image management and integration within existing GIS workflow. Supplied with full course notes, commercially written software, an array of image datasets and a free one-year subscription to GeoInformatics magazine, the module consists of 10 units with self assessed exercises and practical assignments taking approximately 35 hours to complete.

This image-based module, in combination with the GIS modules, provides a complete introduction to contemporary geographic analysis using the programme as the first step in developing a GIS career. Distance learning offers students a flexible study approach, enabling them to study at their own pace and in their own time.

"The recently released "Survey of UK Vertical Aerial Photography" (Business Research Centre, October 2001) concluded that 'technology has opened the way for a boom in the use of aerial photography allowing access to digital photography quickly and easily from an ordinary desktop computer'. This status coupled with the increasing need to enhance maps with imagery by many GIS practitioners, who make up a large proportion of our student body, has re-enforced our decision to dedicate a module to the subject" Said Fiona Cocks Professional Training Manager at The GeoInformation Group. "This module, and the programme in full, offers individuals and corporate students a comprehensive introduction to GIS, its application for real world projects and its historical development."

The Kingston University Professional Distance Learning Programme is brought to market by The GeoInformation Group, the UK's and Europe's leading supplier of geographic image solutions through the product range CRWorld. CRWorld Training Solutions also offers a full range of courses in geoinformation, GIS and geographic data management with flexible and customisable study approaches. Visit www.crworld.co.uk for further information.
