The Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) announced the publication of The Geospatial Technology Report--2001: A Survey of Organizations Implementing Geospatial Information Technologies. The report contains detailed information on the completeness, complexity, and direction of geographic information system (GIS) projects being implemented at 157 infrastructure-based organizations. The 66-page report on CD is divided into five industry sections: electric, gas, pipeline, telecommunications, and water/sewer/storm. It provides cross-industry analyses as well as detailed information on individual industries. Project status information includes landbase accuracy, sophistication, conversion completion, and information maintenance cycles; and facilities conversion, sophistication, maintenance cycles, applications, and interfaces. The report is the fourth in a series that the association publishes annually.

Hal Gentry, Autodesk, Inc., is the immediate past Chair of GITA’s Information Technology Advisory Group (ITAG), and editor of this year’s report.
