The GeoInformation Group is recognised as UK's Pioneer in Aerial Photography Market

6 December 2001 - The GeoInformation® Group has been recognised as a pioneer in the UK aerial photography market by a recent independent survey. Conducted by the Business Research Centre, specialists in GIS related market research projects, the survey explores the provision and uses of aerial photography in the UK.

The report states that it was due to the launch of The GeoInformation Group's Cities Revealed high-resolution aerial photography databases in 1995 that the aerial photography market began to open up. The report goes on to say that "The GeoInformation Group is a pioneer in this market and for many, Cities Revealed data was the first aerial imagery to be used by GIS practitioners in the UK".

As well as being a pioneer, the report reveals that The GeoInformation Group's urban strategy has been successful in establishing and maintaining its position as a dominant player in the aerial photography market. It was also identified as having a particularly strong presence in the local government marketplace.

The GeoInformation Group performed above average in all areas of the survey. In particular, respondents were asked to rate their aerial photography supplier and products across a range of criteria including; coverage, ease of matching with maps, value for money, frequency, quality, service, and ease of use. With high ratings received across each of these seven categories, the survey rated The GeoInformation Group as performing "very well in all areas".

"The findings of the UK Vertical Aerial Photography Survey's comprehensive evaluation clearly demonstrates that The GeoInformation Group is a major leader in the field of aerial photography. Through this survey, we have proven that our corporate objective of providing high quality urban focused, value for money aerial photography products shows a true commitment to our existing strategy and future plans", comments Alun Jones, Commercial Director and co-founder of The GeoInformation Group.
