APEX Data Services, Inc. Establishes Two Subsidiaries

Redirecting Ourselves Within the Context of Our Core Values: Integrity, Dignity, and Excellence

HERNDON, VIRGINIA, January 30, 2001 - Apex Data Services, Inc. (Apex) announces the establishment of two subsidiary corporations, one for each of our two main lines of business: Data Conversion and Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) Services. Apex’s data conversion work will now be performed through the subsidiary, Apex ePublishing Data Services, LLC (Apex ePublishing), and our GIS work will be performed through the subsidiary, Apex Geospatial Data Services, LLC (Apex Geospatial). “We believe that our continued growth and prosperity is due more than anything else to our focus upon the needs of our customers,” said Shashikant Gupta, President of Apex. “This restructuring is aimed at allowing each of our two different businesses to focus more directly upon its customers and thus to provide even better service to them.”

Apex Geospatial specializes in the development of intelligent, enterprise-wide spatial data solutions for the utility, telecommunications, local government, and private industry markets. Service offerings include data acquisition, migration, integrity analysis, and augmentation; as well as database creation, design, development, and maintenance services for spatial information management and fundamental business support systems.

“Apex Geospatial will be a major worldwide force in the geospatial data business,” said Al Naumann, President and Chief Executive Officer of Apex Geospatial. “Our service offerings include, in additional to Apex’s traditional GIS data conversion business, data maintenance, data warehousing, and both ground and aerial field services.”

Apex ePublishing provides conversion services for major publishers, academic and research libraries, and archival and financial institutions. Service offerings include conversion from electronic and hardcopy sources to structured, electronic databases in a variety of formats, including XML, SGML, and TeX, and numerous eBook formats. Apex ePublishing proactively becomes an extension of the conversion team, working with customers to improve the overall database design, including identifying the best format for their content. Using this approach, we deliver consistent, structured, and accurate databases that enable our customers to meet tomorrow’s e-world requirements, today.

Apex is the world’s premier provider of geospatial data services for the utility and other markets, and full-text conversion for the e- publishing industry, serving corporate, institutional, academic, and financial markets. We specialize in assisting customers with their data needs in the context of enterprise-wide, open-systems IT implementations. Our service offerings include data conversion, software development, and database modeling, design, migration, and maintenance.
