DeLorme Applied GeoSpatial Solutions Unit Introduces DNET Program
National Reseller/Service Provider Network Launched for GIS Products
YARMOUTH, Maine, February 28, 2001-DeLorme, a leading innovator in
digital mapping and location technologies, today announced the launch of its DeLorme
Network (DNET) Program, a network of resellers, service providers, OEMs and
integrators, to sell and support the DeLorme XMap® series of GIS software products.
The DeLorme Applied GeoSpatial Solutions business unit produces applications for
in-vehicle mobile GIS solutions, as well as enterprise spatial applications intended for
corporate, municipal and utilities markets.
“The XMap product suite is designed to be very easy to implement and some
customers will be able to do it themselves. However, many times customization is better
performed by a consultant,” says John Ferketic, DeLorme’s Applied GeoSpatial
Solutions Director. “DNET Program members fill this role in their region and become the
single local source for GIS services.”
The DNET Program opens the doors for professional firms to resell DeLorme
products and provide service solutions to customers, either by customizing a DeLorme
product for a client, integrating a DeLorme product within a custom enterprise solution,
or for reselling it as a commercial product with DeLorme capabilities.
According to Ferketic, typical DNET Program members will come from small to
mid-sized engineering, mapping and GIS firms experienced in GIS system
implementation. Members of these firms will receive extensive technical and sales
training on DeLorme products, and implementation of XMap systems. DNET Program
members benefit by having a DeLorme product they can use to market GIS services to
local or regional clients and from DeLorme’s commitment to excellence in product
development.
DNET members will be selected based on their experience in GIS consulting,
implementation and development. Special emphasis will be placed on the service
provider’s expertise in consulting for municipalities and utilities.
Rellers joining the DeLorme DNET Program will now be able to offer their
customers additional key services including:
- Scanning
- Image Registration
- Digitization and Attribution
- Training
- System Implementation
- Technical Support
DNET members will be free to use other CAD and GIS products to generate data
and provide technical services required for product implementation, and they will also be
free to market additional services to their clients.
Firms interested in becoming DNET members or receiving more information
about the network should contact Edwin Gaskin at (207) 846-7000, ext. 2603 or by
e-mail at egaskin@delorme.com. They are also invited to visit DeLorme representatives
at booth #1427 at the 2001 GITA Annual Conference, being held in San Diego, Calif.,
March 4 - 7.
