About Location Interoperability Forum
Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia founded the Location Interoperability Forum (LIF) to achieve the
goals of offering location-based services worldwide on wireless networks and terminals.
Founded in September 2000, the purpose of the LIF is to define, develop and promote -- through
global standard bodies and specification organizations -- a common and ubiquitous location services
solution allowing applications to retrieve location information from wireless networks and terminals
irrespective of their underlying air interface technologies and positioning methods.
