WATERBURY, Conn., Jun 29, 2001 -- Haestad
Methods, the world's leading provider of hydrologic and
hydraulic software, today announced that the Federal Highway
Administration (FHWA) and the Georgia Department of
Transportation (GDOT) have both purchased Haestad Methods' stormwater
software modeling products to analyze and modify their
current storm sewer systems.
GDOT selected the Stormwater Suite to model their systems statewide.
This comprehensive design and analysis package, which
includes StormCAD, PondPack, FlowMaster, and CulvertMaster, will provide
the transportation department with an integrated
solution to contend with the frequent threat of flooding to Georgia's
114,000 miles of roadways.
After evaluating several other stormwater packages, GDOT elected to
purchase Haestad Methods' Stormwater Suite to assist their
200 project engineers with roadway design and improvement projects. GDOT
currently handles 60% of these projects in-house, with
40% being distributed to outside consultants.
"The Haestad Methods software [suite] has been selected as one of the
standard packages for storm sewer design and analysis for
implementation statewide throughout GDOT," says Glenn Williams, GDOT
Computer Support Engineer Manager. "The decision to
standardize our software was made after a yearlong evaluation of various
stormwater packages on the market. We feel that this
suite, in conjunction with additional software, will provide a complete
solution for our modeling needs."
The recent purchases of Haestad Methods products by Georgia and several
other state transportation departments have not gone
unnoticed by their federal counterpart. The FHWA, a long time user of
Haestad Methods' CulvertMaster and PondPack programs,
has most recently added StormCAD to their list of stormwater modeling
applications. The FHWA will utilize the software similarly to
GDOT by taking advantage of features such as robust GIS integration,
Scenario Management, and the automated design tool to
model future highway construction projects.
"I believe the FHWA and DOTs are deploying Haestad Methods' Stormwater
products because they realize the importance of the
hydrologic and hydraulic calculations for their analyses and designs,
beyond what a geometric package add-on can give to them,"
said Jen Patty, Director of DOT Sales at Haestad Methods. "Not to
mention our accredited continuing education department, our
experienced technical support staff, and the ease of use of our
software." Included with the Stormwater Suite are comprehensive
software manuals and ClientCare support packages for each product.
ClientCare will provide GDOT and FHWA with automatic
software upgrades and updates, as well as technical and engineering
assistance.
