3Di Reports Record Q1 Earnings -- Leading Geo-spatial Firm Expands Client Base and Improves Financials Despite Slow Economy

EASTON, Md., Jun 28, 2001 -- Today, 3Di, the leading international geo-spatial services provider, announced dramatic improvements in the financial performance of the company compared to the same period in 2000. For the first quarter of 2001, earnings before income taxes, interest expense, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) increased 556%, while revenues increased 34%.

"Even in this difficult economic environment, we were still able to deliver good financial results," said 3Di CEO Monty Deel. We have also substantially increased our production backlog, further positioning us for a strong fiscal year overall. And, in one short year, we improved both the efficiency and the profitability of our national network of regional production centers."

In addition to the positive revenue news, 3Di's operating efficiency improved as the company's gross profit margin increased 34%. "During the past six months, we invested heavily in the development of the DATIS II, the most advanced LIDAR system in the world, which is now operational. Our customers are already seeing the results of DATIS II in terms of production time and quality of data. For the remainder of the year, we will continue our focus on tightly controlling expenses while driving new sales in all lines of business," Deel continued. "From a competitive standpoint, 3Di remains the best value for both private and government agency clients."

In addition to improved financial performance, during the last five months, 3Di added more than 66 new clients in all lines of business, including Mapping Services, Remote Sensing Services, and GIS Services.

Headquartered in Easton, MD, 3Di provides both public and private sectors with cost-effective solutions for spatial data mapping needs, using a unique combination of technologies. Through its Photogrammetry, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing Services, 3Di delivers products and services designed to meet the spatial data needs of transportation, telecommunications, agriculture and engineering clients, as well as facility management, utilities and government agencies. 3Di's end-to-end solutions range from data acquisition and analysis (aerial and satellite) and associated information products, to information integration (Enterprise GIS). 3Di's partial client list includes NOAA, USDA, the World Bank, National Geographic, DuPont, Verizon, and Zeneca. The company is also an authorized ESRI(TM) business partner, reseller, and training provider.
