MARKHAM, ON July 9, 2000 - DMTI Spatial, producer of CanMap®, Canada's premier digital street map file, today announced a ground breaking strategic alliance with Tele Atlas NV, the world's largest digital mapping company. Both companies have embraced the opportunity to capitalize on the other's highly accurate street file to create North America's first complete seamless routing solution.

DMTI Spatial and Tele Atlas North America are recognized as leaders in their respective geographic domains and this joint initiative will set the standard in route logistics planning and digital street mapping. The comprehensive North American solution will provide users with a single source for location-rich, highly accurate, quality street map data for North America.

Telematics, in-car navigation, location based services and business geographic analysis all require data that is of the highest quality, positionally accurate, frequently updated and complete. Both partners contribute a wealth of street mapping knowledge, years of experience, nested data sets and unparalleled technologies. This collaboration ensures that clients have the tools they need to support their North American-wide, mission-critical business decisions and enterprise applications.

"Tele Atlas is committed to providing the most extensive, accurate map data available to its customers thereby enabling their success" said Richard Selmeier, President and COO of Tele Atlas North America. "This strategic relationship with DMTI Spatial leverages the best both companies have to offer. Our combined strengths give our customers the tools they need to create the most accurate solutions possible for Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Tele Atlas North America Location Based Services (LBS), and Navigation, including country-to-country routing, seamless business mapping, and superior address finding."

"This alliance provides the most accurate complete source for North American street map data that is available on the market today. Through this alliance customers will, for the first time, have access to a complete North American routing solution. Tele Atlas has worldwide mapping solutions and is a giant in the industry. DMTI Spatial is extremely pleased that Tele Atlas has selected CanMap® as their source for high quality Canadian mapping data." said John Fisher, President and CEO of DMTI Spatial.

Tele Atlas North America and DMTI Spatial will be at the ESRI User Conference this week in San Diego at booths #1101 and #1313 respectively.
