AGRA Baymont Awarded Contract by California Water Service Company
Clearwater, Florida (February 28, 2001) - California Water Service Company (CWSC) selected
AGRA Baymont, Inc. (Baymont) to provide personnel, materials, facilities, and equipment
required to develop a geographic information system (GIS) for its water utility network. Baymont
will provide services in GIS database development and development of project deliverables. ESRI
ARCInfo 8 software will be used for the production and manipulation of geospatial data for the
project.
Located in San Jose, California, CWSC supplies water service to 1.5 million people in 58
California communities through 25 separate districts. Providing high quality water services since
1926, CWSC is the largest investor-owned water utility in the western United States and supplies
over 100 billion gallons of water each year through a network of over 4600 miles of pipe.
“We are excited to be working with Baymont on this large, diverse GIS conversion project,” said
Todd Peters, Manager of Distribution at CWSC. “Baymont’s experience in similar GIS conversion
projects and their knowledge of ESRI products make them a solid partner on a project of this
magnitude.”
Cal Water is implementing an enterprise-wide GIS program intended to support a wide range of
water utility activities within each major division and among each district. The GIS will provide
expanded capabilities to engineering, operations, customer information, water quality, and new
business. The GIS database and related applications will be linked with other information systems
including maintenance management, customer information system, hydraulic modeling, water
quality systems, and document management.
The project is currently scheduled for a three-year duration and will be completed at Baymont’s
Kuala Lumpur facility in Malaysia by a data conversion team consisting of record technicians, GIS
technicians, and technical support staff.
“We are pleased to be working with CWSC on this project. This type of work is clearly suited to
the combined talents of our Clearwater and Kuala Lumpur facilities and provides CWSC with a
quality proven product at a very competitive price,” said Bob Brown, President & CEO of AGRA
Baymont Inc. “We look forward providing more one stop shopping to our clients.”
