SpatialNews Press Release
Carto World releases new version of CartoVCL™ for Borland™ Delphi™
Johannesburg, South Africa. March 1, 2001. Geographic Systems and Analysis, the
developer of the popular CartoVCL™ mapping components for Borland™ Delphi™ today
announced the release of CartoVCL™ 5.6.
Managing Director Rob Volkwyn explains: "This new release now supports the
displaying of shape file objects in 3D. This means that in 3D mode, polygons can
be displayed as prisms, polylines as ribbons, and points as line segments.
Various 3D parameters such as the viewing angle and perspective effect can be
controlled programmatically. There is support for orthographic and perspective
projections. This 3D shapetable could also be used to show the variation of an
attribute over the set of shapes in the file by making the height of the shapes
proportional to the value of the attribute."
CartoVCL™ is a set of visual components, classes, and routines for writing
desktop mapping and GIS applications in Borland™ Delphi™. An evaluation version
is available for download from the Carto World web site -
http://www.cartoworld.com.
Geographic Systems and Analysis was formed in 1995 and are the leaders in
providing the Borland™ developer community with native Delphi™ and C++ Builder™
mapping components. The company is a Borland™ Technology TCB partner.
The Carto World™ family of products are used worldwide by a wide variety of
organizations, from large public corporations to private entrepreneurial
developers.
