Call for Papers abstract deadline: April 13, 2001
March 29, 2001: Aurora, Colo.-The Geospatial Information & Technology Association
(GITA), announced the Call for Papers for the 2001 GIS for Oil & Gas Conference, “Technology
Advances in Gas and Pipeline.” The deadline for abstracts is April 13, 2001, with the conference
scheduled to be held September 17-19, 2001, at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Houston, Texas.
The event focuses on decision-making and geospatial information technologies within the
oil and gas industry-helps organizations deal with customer service issues, mergers and
acquisitions, regulatory changes, increasing data demands, and more. It is devoted exclusively to
the applications of GIS technology for the upstream and downstream aspects of the industry,
including exploration and production, land/lease, pipeline, gathering, retail, refining, and
marketing.
Paper abstracts should be 200 words in length and include the intended audience rank
(novice, intermediate, advanced, or all audiences) and three learning objectives summarizing
what participants will gain from the presentation. Abstracts may be submitted via GITA’s online
submission form at www.gita.org/events/01oilgascall.html or as an attachment to
tmoran@gita.org.
