Intermap Technologies Announces Data Licensing Sales to NIMA valued at US $1.2 million

DENVER, (March 28, 2001) - Intermap Technologies through its GLOBAL Terrain data store, announced today that National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) has purchased additional GLOBAL Terrain licenses for STAR-3i data recently collected in South America. This purchase was made through Intermap’s GLOBAL Terrain distributor EarthWatch Incorporated of Longmont, Colorado. The license extension valued at US $1.2 million before EarthWatch distributor costs, will allow NIMA to extend the distribution of the data from a ‘single user' license to additional tiers of users. The data licenses include STAR-3i IFSAR radar imagery and topographic elevation data.

“Data licensing is a cost effective way for both the private and public sectors to acquire the data they need while allowing data suppliers to spread costs over several license sales” said Mr. Ron Birk, Vice President GLOBAL Terrain. “License extensions allow provide an effective means of allowing for greater distribution of data purchased at a greatly reduced cost from the original license fee.”

Intermap Technologies is building a global database of digital elevation models (DEMs). Intermap digital maps are used in a wide range of applications including planning and engineering projects, in navigation systems, and to enrich satellite images. Working for private industry and governments worldwide, Intermap’s STAR-3i IFSAR radar system maps large areas accurately and quickly, and can acquire data in overcast and dark conditions. Intermap generates maps, DEMs and orthorectified images in highly automated production facilities. Map products are available at the Company’s GLOBAL Terrain (www.globalterrain.com) e-commerce Internet site.

Intermap’s main office is located in Denver, Colorado, and has Canadian offices in Calgary, Alberta and Ottawa, Ontario. Its website is www.intermaptechnologies.com. Intermap Technologies is listed on the Canadian Venture Exchange under the trading symbol IMP.A.
