CES Wireless Technologies Announces Expanded
Compatibility with GSM and GPRS for Truly Global Applications
url(s): http://www.ceswireless.com
WINTER PARK, Fla., March 29, 2001--CES Wireless Technologies announced that it has fully
tested and certified its mobile and base station equipment and software for GSM applications in addition to the company's
already wide range of interfaces. "This adds a more global application as well as higher speed, highly secure and efficient
data transmission," noted Pat Lohan, President. "We have maintained our technology leadership through constantly
upgrading as the wireless industry evolves, but not at the expense of our customer's systems." Lohan continued, "That
demands that while we are very up-to-date, we maintain our compatibility with existing or `legacy' systems as well."
CES has tested the applications both in the US and Europe and incorporated them into the TRK-240(TM),
GPS-210(TM), and GPS-150(TM) mobile units and base software in POWER-trak(TM) and QUICK-trak(TM). The
integrated systems are able to communicate via GSM, PCS, CDMA, TDMA and iDEN in addition to satellite or two-way
trunking systems. This array provides a versatile system for Fleet Management and commerce.
The GSM interface is used throughout Europe and most of the rest of the world but has been slow to gain applications in
the US. GSM is available in the US through the VoiceStream and Western Wireless networks and AT&T has announced
that they will be adding this functionality to their system over the next few years. GSM is now available in nearly every US
city and is expanding rapidly due to its compatibility with other systems worldwide. GSM and the related newer data
application - GPRS - are expected to become the primary standards for cellular voice and data in the US over the next three
years.
CES Wireless products are available directly from the company or through its dealer network and the Motorola(TM)
radio dealer network under a program recently announced by both companies.
CES Wireless' introduction of QUICK-trak(TM) made CES systems more affordable to small fleets and the internet
based FLEET-link(TM) system combined with a soon-to-be-released cargo tracking option will enable even one vehicle
`owner-operators' to afford and access the quality of CES Wireless systems.
