Laser-Scan, international industry leader in the geospatial solutions market, has announced the award of a multi-seat contract with the Brazilian Army Geographic Service (DSG) for the supply of geospatial database management and map production software and services. According to the notice issued by DSG:

“The Brazilian Army Geographic Service (DSG) has recently acquired applications as well as consultancy and training from Laser-Scan Inc. in order to implement an efficient cartographic production system and geospatial database without any scale restriction, based on Object-Oriented technology. With the above mentioned resources, DSG intends to produce cartographic maps in the 1:100.000 and 1:250.000 scales, derived from data stored at the 1:50.000 basic scale using the cartographic generalization process.”

Laser-Scan’s LAMPS2 software, driven by the Gothic geospatial database is being deployed by the DSG to manage its geospatial data and for cartographic map production. Steven Cox, President of Laser-Scan Inc., says:

“We are delighted that the Brazilian Army Geographic Service has selected Laser-Scan to help build their database architecture. Laser-Scan’s Object- Oriented technology offers the DSG a state of the art geospatial data management system.”

Laser-Scan’s LAMPS2 software and incorporated Gothic database is in use with national mapping and charting agencies throughout the world, including Ordnance Survey (UK), the Automobile Association (UK), the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (US), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (US), INEGI (Mexico), the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office and the South African Navy Hydrographic Office.

As part of the Yeoman Group plc, Laser-Scan is part of an exciting information technology group that brings together expertise in mobile navigation, mapping and communications.
