CHELMSFORD, MA (October 29, 2001) - Lincoln & Company, a division of Biscom, Inc. announces the release of LincPDF, a new software tool to convert files from HP PCL5e format to Adobe PDF. LincPDF was developed to meet the demand from documents management systems developers and users for a means to convert documents from an industry-standard print spool output format into a form more universally displayable by Web browsers and e-mail viewers.
Lincoln's software offering runs on all current Microsoft Windows systems. The package includes an ActiveX component and documentation for developers as well as stand-alone Windows and command line applications. It is based upon Lincoln's well-accepted PCL software technology, developed over more than ten years and tested in thousands of OEM and end user sites. The PCL5e section handles all of the text operations of standard HP LaserJet printers, plus the full current HP plotter language, HP-GL/2. It also includes and supports standard LaserJet printer fonts.
LincPDF produces fully searchable PDF files with support for the standard scalable fonts provided with Adobe's Acrobat Reader. These features result in the ability to locate desired passages in displayed images and to print the files on high-resolution printers without loss of clarity.
"We implemented Lincoln's LincPDF product to convert our PCL-based reports from our VMS system so we could port them to our web site," explains Des Feeley, IT Development Manager at Barings Ireland, Ltd., an international financial services and asset management conglomerate and an early user of the product. "The project was driven by client requirements for email documents downloaded via the web. LincPDF handles them perfectly."
LincPDF for Windows® is currently shipping at $1,500 for a single user license.
Networked users may purchase a server license that provides unlimited use. OEM pricing will be quoted upon request. To obtain an evaluation copy or more information please contact Lincoln & Co. at 978-367-3573 or email sales@lincolnco.com , or visit www.lincolnco.com .
Lincoln & Company was founded in 1978 to develop advanced technology for processing text and graphics and to apply this technology to computer peripherals.
