The criteria applied for selection are technical excellence, innovative content, potential market value and capacity to generate new jobs.

The awards ceremony and selection of the three grand prize winners is scheduled for Dec. 3 in Düsseldorf, Germany, in the presence of high European Commission and German government officials.

About eCognition:

eCognition is the first commercially available product for object oriented and multi-scale image analysis. Going far beyond the methodical limits of pixel-based approaches, eCognition leads to higher classification accuracy and to better semantic differentiation. Consequently, classification tasks can be addressed in a way which until has not been possible by current image analysis systems. eCognition can be used for any kind of earth observation data (either optical or radar) and provides an endless ability to segment and classify cost-effectively large image volumes.
