Bluetopia™ will enable Bluetooth technology on SunScreen PCs and Compaq Ipaq running Strata’s Penmap software
Louisville, Kentucky – October 16, 2001 – Stonestreet One, a leading provider of Bluetooth hardware, software, and engineering services, has licensed its Bluetooth Protocol Stack, Bluetopia™, to Strata Software, a leading provider of geographical information systems (GIS), global positioning systems (GPS) and surveying software, and wearable computer products based in the United Kingdom. Strata will use Bluetopia™ on its line of ruggedized SunScreen and Compaq Ipaq PCs to provide the upper layers of the Bluetooth protocol interface, permitting the PCs to wirelessly communicate with other similarly enabled GPS units, PCs, or networks via radio frequency.
“We are excited about the opportunity to get Bluetopia™ into the hands of more end-users,” said Dick Smith, president of Stonestreet One. “Strata is in the forefront of an industry for which the Bluetooth standard is perfectly suited, so we have been pleased to work with them over the past year to enable their GIS, GPS, and surveying products with Bluetooth technology. Licensing our Bluetooth protocol stack to them brings the project full circle.”
