PCI Geomatics Joins the Innovation Acceleration Centre (IAC) at the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing (CCRS)

Richmond Hill, Ontario - August 31, 2001: PCI Geomatics has been accepted to join the Innovation Acceleration Centre (IAC) at CCRS. The IAC provides a framework for cooperation between government and industry in research and development and allows CCRS to provide scientific assistance to help accelerate the development of geomatics/remote sensing products and services. Under the IAC, PCI Geomatics will be provided support from CCRS to assist in understanding the CCRS Imaging Spectrometer Data Analysis System (ISDAS), ensure proper implementation in the PCI Geomatics software environment, and better understand the application possibilities of the technology.

The ISDAS system is being integrated within Geomatica as part of three projects recently awarded by the Canadian Space Agency under the Earth Observation Applications Development Program (EOADP) for the purpose of commercializing the ISDAS system. It is hoped that through the Innovation Acceleration Centre, the commercialization of ISDAS will be enhanced.

"I say this with the clearest of certainty, PCI Geomatics is absolutely dedicated to maintaining our good history and reputation with respect to government contracts such as this." states Dr. Robert Moses, President and CEO of PCI Geomatics. "In the past five years alone, we have competed for, won, and successfully completed over ten Canadian Government software development projects. We stand behind our contracts and we stand behind our products."

The new hyperspectral tools within Geomatica will be applicable for a number of commercial applications. PCI Geomatics will be able to provide users of hyperspectral data with a software package that will not only enables them to analyze and visualize their hyperspectral data, but also to be able to integrate it with other geospatial data. This will provide valuable information to applications such as agriculture, exploration and mineral geology, and forestry.

PCI Geomatics, a world leading developer of geomatics software and solutions, has shown that the uniquely integrated environment of their new Geomatica product will be the perfect host for ISDAS technology. "We are always trying to move our products beyond the typical applications and standards of the geomatics market." observes Richard Nasmith, Director of New Business Development for PCI Geomatics. "Through dedicated internal development and by working with innovative organizations such as CSA and CCRS, we can bring greater geospatial function to a greater geomatics future."

PCI Geomatics (www.pcigeomatics.com) is a world leading developer of geomatics software and solutions based on its remote sensing, digital photogrammetry, spatial analysis, and cartographic editing programs. PCI Geomatics has over 11,000 licenses installed in over 100 countries, a result of its commitment to supply leading edge software, customer support, and service worldwide. PCI Geomatics has been in the geospatial software business since 1982 and each software generation has been created with their customer's present and future needs in mind.

Geomatica is a powerful blending of four major company product lines into one fully functional solution. PCI Geomatics has brought together EASI/PACE, SPANS, PAMAP, ACE, and OrthoEngine to develop a completely new functionality framework for Geomatica, producing a single, tightly integrated product. Geomatica introduces many new developments while also delivering improvements to traditional PCI Geomatics software advantages such as strengthened raster and vector processing capabilities required to meet the growing demands of the Remote Sensing, GIS, Cartographic, and Photogrammetry worlds.

Geomatica and PAMAP GIS are trademarks of PCI Geomatics. EASI/PACE, SPANS, ACE, OrthoEngine, and GeoGateway are registered trademarks of PCI Geomatics (www.pcigeomatics.com).
