Clearwater, Florida (September 17, 2001) - The County of Sarasota's GIS department awarded AGRA Baymont, Inc. (Baymont) a significant base mapping and GIS parcel database project that calls for the integration of lot and parcel data into a GIS.
"Baymont is pleased to assist Sarasota County with construction of its cadastral database," said Keith Patterson, Director of Photogrammetry, Mapping & GIS for Baymont. "The resultant data will facilitate easy access to accurate land ownership information via GIS. We are excited to be part of the team."
Sarasota County's GIS department is responsible for mapping the county's approximate 570 square mile area. Baymont will be responsible for converting approximately 248,000 land parcels and processing over 4,000 AutoCAD drawings of plats, subdivisions and condominiums. Baymont will also convert 7500 metes and bounds descriptions for un-platted lands.
Lot and parcel boundaries are georeferenced by Baymont to surveyed control points captured via Global Positioning System (GPS). The deliverable consists of a unified, seamless cadastral coverage of the entire county, excluding the Northport area. Baymont is utilizing ESRI and AutoCAD products to produce the deliverables for the county.
Baymont completed a preliminary pilot phase prior to the project award by Sarasota and is scheduled to complete the project in a 13-month time frame. Baymont's North American facility will utilize its Photogrammetry, Mapping & GIS division consisting of photointerpreters, photogrammetrists, application developers, and GIS specialists to complete the project.
