Leica Geosystems has announced the appointment of Kunde Company, Inc., as a dealer for Leica GPS/GIS products in the upper Midwest.

Kunde Company will be responsible for sales and service of Leica's GS50 GPS/GIS data acquisition system and GIS DataPRO(tm) software, as well as other Leica terrestrial data collection systems. The company will also use Leica's products for its own fieldwork on behalf of GIS customers.

Based in Roseville, Minnesota, Kunde Company is a leading natural resource consulting firm with 20 years of experience serving customers in the upper Midwest. Kunde is one of the largest forestry-consulting firms in the region. The company also provides GIS-based asset management and mapping services for a variety of applications. Kunde is a co-developer of INVENTREE, a community tree inventory software package that can integrate with most GIS software.

Bob Morris, president of Leica's GIS and Mapping Division, stated, "We are very pleased to name Kunde Company as a key dealer in the upper Midwest. Kunde Company is a widely respected and highly professional firm, especially in the field of forestry, and we believe they will do an outstanding job of representing Leica in this important region."

Leica's GPS/GIS business group, based in Torrance, California, develops, manufactures and markets a full range of GIS data collection products using the GPS satellite network. Products include the 0.5-meter GS50 system for primary data collection applications and the 1-2 meter GS5+ system for the secondary data collection market. These tools, coupled with Leica's proprietary GIS DataPRO(tm) office software package, offer innovative and flexible GPS/GIS data collection solutions for a wide range of industries.

The Leica Geosystems GIS and Mapping Division, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is a leading provider of integrated end-to-end solutions for the acquisition, processing and 3-D visualization of spatial data. The division encompasses the operations of ERDAS, Inc., and LH Systems, which were acquired by Leica in April 2001, along with Leica's GPS/GIS and LIS business groups.

Leica Geosystems, with worldwide headquarters in Heerbrugg, Switzerland, develops, manufactures and markets systems for surveying, mapping and position determination. The company, with 2,750 employees, has a turnover of over 600 million Swiss francs and is listed on the Swiss Exchange. It is structured in six divisions: GIS and Mapping, Surveying and Engineering, Industrial Measurement, Special Products, Consumer Products and New Businesses.
