Wherify's GPS Personal Locator Wins Top Honors at RetailVision(R) -- North America's Top Retailers Select Wherify's GPS Personal Locator as Best Product Hardware and Best New Technology

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Sep 26, 2001 - More than 200 leading U.S. and Canadian retailers, representing $60 billion in buying power, selected the Wherify GPS Personal Locator as the "Best Product: Hardware" and "Best New Technology" during this year's "Best of RetailVision Awards(TM)." The "Best of RetailVision Awards were held Sept. 6, as part of RetailVision Fall 2001 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Key industry leaders presented the awards to Wherify Wireless, including representatives from Best Buy, CompUSA, Fry's Electronics, Ingram Micro, Office Depot, Target, Radio Shack and Staples.

"These awards, bestowed upon us by some of the largest retailers in the North America, reinforce the market demand, viability and anticipation for our GPS Personal Locator," said Timothy Neher, founder and president of Wherify Wireless, developers of the GPS Personal Locator. "This recognition by buyers of the nation's leading retailers also adds to the momentum we've already built."

Scheduled to hit the market by the end of the year, Wherify's GPS Personal Locator is unlike any location-based service available today. Through the convergence of Global Positioning System (GPS) and digital wireless technologies, the miniaturized, wrist-worn locator offers a patented, tested and proven safety solution that gives parents peace of mind knowing they can locate their children, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Parents, whether at work, home, or traveling, can use the Internet or any phone to quickly identify their child's location within several feet of their exact location and in less than 60 seconds. In the event of an emergency, either the child or parent can request an emergency 911 response and local police will be dispatched.

"Winning two of the 'Best of RetailVision Awards' is a validation from the retailing community who have voted to see the Wherify GPS Personal Locator on store shelves everywhere," said Tom Gotuzzo, vice president of sales and marketing for Wherify Wireless. "We are building long term retail relationships that will ensure significant mass distribution."

For the past 12 years the "Best of RetailVision Awards," produced by Vision Events(R), a Gartner, Inc. (NYSE: IT; ITB) company, have been acknowledged as the consumer electronics retail channel's leading honors. The award winners were voted on by retail buying executives attending RetailVision Fall 2001 to see the latest new technology products while assessing potential partnership opportunities at the event's Private Boardroom Appointments. The by-invitation-only boardroom meetings are an integral part of the decision-making process that retail buyers undertake in order to stock their shelf space.

"Buyers with the nation's leading retailers reviewed many outstanding products at this year's RetailVision event," said Pete Prentice, event director for RetailVision. "By awarding Wherify's GPS Personal Locator as the 'Best Product: Hardware' and 'Best New Technology,' Wherify Wireless has instantly been recognized as the leader in personal location-based products and services."
