More than 375 guests convened Saturday, March 14, 2009 to show their support for COSI’s mission by attending Imagination Celebration 2009: A Night of Possibilities and Probabilities. From the Vegas-style games and showgirls, to the elegant aerialists and ballroom dancers, to the delicious food and exciting live and silent auctions—COSI’s guests experienced an evening to remember. Here is just a sampling of positive comments received from guests who attended that evening:

“(It was) a very special evening that is pretty much unique among the galas in Columbus–I have already heard from two couples who were not there bemoaning the fact that they had missed, so the buzz seems to be growing.”

“The room looked great and excitement was in the air. The ‘trapeze rope’ was a great idea. It certainly was nice to see a new ‘vibe’ at this type of event.”

“Congrats on a great event!! It was a spectacular night. The auction had to set new records!!! I had raves from all my guests.”

Thanks to your enthusiasm, together we raised a net total of $165,000—including $13,770 for the Camp COSI Scholarship Fund.

The Camp COSI Scholarship Fund will enable young people from families in financial need to attend week-long camps at COSI this summer and on certain School’s Out days throughout the year. With themes such as Robotics, Archaeology, Amusement Park Science, and Destination: Space, children will be able to grasp scientific concepts through the hands-on, interactive learning that COSI is known for throughout central Ohio—thanks to the extraordinary generosity of COSI’s supporters.

COSI is grateful to all who attended, donated, or volunteered their time to make Imagination Celebration 2009 the smashing success it was—particularly the Friends of COSI Committee, which devoted hundreds of volunteer hours to planning the gala and auction.

All of the proceeds from the evening will enable COSI to continue to provide an atmosphere for all ages to grow, explore, question, and connect to real science, real scientists, and the real potential to change the world.
