Students interact with two professional pharmacy students from Ohio State University’s College of Pharmacy as they become community pharmacists and interact with a live patient to solve a challenging case study. In this case study, students determine whether they should fill a patient’s prescription for Vicodin® by conducting activities that include completing the patient’s clinical profile through live Q&A, analyzing drug monographs, decoding a prescription, filling a prescription, and counseling the patient. The session ends with a discussion about careers in healthcare as well as the professional pharmacy student’s educational paths.
Students should prepare questions in advance, based on the information sent to the teacher. Community Pharmacy is a multi-point program that connects up to 2 interactive schools at one time.
