AUTODESK DEBUTS FIRST VIRTUAL TRADESHOW FOR AM/FM/GIS
PROFESSIONALS AT GITA ANNUAL CONFERENCE
iBooth Web Attendees Can View Live Presentations and Participate in Interactive
Demos from Their Desktops
SAN RAFAEL, Calif., March 21, 2000-Expanding the reach of tradeshows exponentially,
Autodesk, Inc., today announced Autodesk iBooth, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
industry’s first interactive tradeshow booth on the Web for professionals who are unable to
attend the GITA 2000 Annual Conference in Denver, March 27?29. AM/FM/GIS professionals
worldwide can easily visit the iBooth free from their desktop at www.autodesk.com/iBooth.
During the three-day event, visitors can learn about the future direction of GIS and the latest
technologies for enterprise GIS, Web-based GIS, and mobile solutions. Autodesk iBooth
attendees can listen to and participate in interactive presentations for the communications,
utilities, state and local government, and land development industries.
Autodesk is using PlaceWare technology to provide iBooth attendees with live demonstrations of
Autodesk software including, AutoCAD Map®, Autodesk® Municipal Products (AMP) suite,
Autodesk PowerLine, and VISION*® technology-directly from the tradeshow floor. The
Autodesk iBooth enables Web visitors to participate and interact with the live audience at GITA
via phone, e-mail, and Web by asking questions, providing comments, and participating in polls
during Autodesk presentations, a first in the AM/FM/GIS industry. The technology is Java based
so no plug-ins are required. Web attendees only need a standard Web browser and RealAudio to
participate.
“The power of the Internet has transformed the impact of tradeshows. As part of our e-marketing
strategy, interested parties from around the world can get the information they need in real time
without incurring the time and costs associated with travel,” said Ernest Berghof, GIS marketing
manager for the Americas at Autodesk.
Through the iBooth, Autodesk is able to have a two-way communication with 10 times more
people than with the physical booth alone. The Autodesk iBooth is currently registering new
members at a rate of one every four minutes. Visitors who register online before March 22 are
eligible to win a free PalmV. For those who are able to attend GITA in person at the Colorado
Convention Center in Denver, Autodesk will be located in booth #1216.
