Users Will Immediately Realize the Increased Performance and
Stability
Redlands, California—ESRI, the world leader in geographic information system
(GIS) software, is pleased to announce ArcInfo 8.0.2. This latest release addresses a
number of key issues, including
Improvements addressing quality and performance
Windows 2000 Support
ArcInfo 8.0.2 is an excellent product for use on the Windows 2000 operating system.
Recent enhancements have improved performance in use of the Windows registry, to
improve the printing environment, and to certify ArcInfo 8.0.2 support for use on this
operating system.
Extended International Support
ArcInfo 8.0.2 is designed to work in most international languages and operating
systems. It has strong support for the use of 8-bit character sets as well as more
complex double-byte character sets required by Asian languages. Development work
is under way for adding bidirectional text support required by Hebrew, Arabic, and
Farsi users.
Quality and Performance
ArcInfo 8.0.2 is an even better version of ArcInfo 8, and includes specific
performance improvements. Some of the performance gains are in improved
coverage editing, geodatabase operations, and ArcSDE for SQL Server. A broad
range of software issues has also been addressed.
"ArcInfo 8.0.2 addresses the needs and requests of the ArcInfo user community,"
says ArcInfo Product Manager Curt Wilkinson. "Users will immediately realize and
take advantage of the increased performance and stability of ArcInfo 8.0.2."
