ESRI and Cook-Hurlbert Announce Relationship
Redlands, California-ESRI and Cook-Hurlbert, Inc. (CH), today announced the formation of a
business relationship for delivering technology solutions to electric and gas utility markets.
The relationship was formed between CH and ESRI to provide innovative geographic
information system (GIS) and engineering design solutions and services through the integration
of CH and ESRI technologies for a number of utility applications. Specifically, ESRI’s leading
ArcInfo 8.0.1 software now works directly with CH-Expert Designer Version 3.
“Our business partner relationships provide optimum solutions for customers looking for the
synergy of specific industry expertise in software and services combined with the very best GIS
tools,” said Mitch Garnett, utility industry solutions manager, ESRI. “CH brings expert
implementation services and software solutions for engineering design. We are excited about the
integration of ArcInfo 8 with CH software and what it means for the utility industry.”
“This partnership is an important step forward,” said Vonnie Smith, president of Cook-
Hurlbert. “It ensures both ESRI and Cook-Hurlbert customers have access to the most advanced
technology available in GIS and engineering design/analysis products.”
Cook-Hurlbert, Inc., provides engineering design and analysis software products and
services. The company’s premier software package, CH-Expert Designer, provides utilities with
an off-the-shelf solution for optimized design and integration between GIS and work
management systems. The software's features include workload management, dynamic cost
estimating, and drag and drop placement, with the ability to design both in the office and in the
field.
Expert Designer Version 3 is developed with Component Object Model (COM) technology
and standard desktop functionality. COM has advanced portability, making it easy and efficient
to move the product between GIS environments and lightweight graphic environments, giving
the designer the capability of taking automated design functionality into the field. ArcInfo 8.0.1
is the most significant GIS release to ever hit the computing market. The result of the largest,
most comprehensive research and development effort of its kind, ArcInfo 8.0.1 provides the most
powerful and modern platform available for creating, managing, disseminating, and applying
geographic knowledge. ArcInfo 8 began shipping December 1999.
For more than thirty years, ESRI has been the leading developer of geographic information
system (GIS) software with more than 220,000 clients worldwide. ESRI also provides
