Brazilian Electric Company Implements Intergraph's InService
RGE Completes End-to-End Geospatial Resource Management Solution

DENVER, March 28, 2000 - Intergraph Corporation today announced that Rio Grande Energia S.A. (RGE) has selected Intergraph's InService Suite for outage management, dispatch and mobile data solutions. RGE provides electricity to almost 1 million customers in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, managing 61,000 km of distribution network.

Last July, RGE signed a contract with Intergraph's Brazilian distributor, Sisgraph LTDA., for a full Geospatial Resource Management solution, including ActiveFRAMME, FRAMME Web View and InService. In January RGE completed the implementation of ActiveFRAMME and FRAMME Web View, including data migration from their legacy systems. The implementation was completed in less than five months. RGE will complete phase one of the InService project by the end of April and plans to be in production by September.

According to Lucas Luz, RGE's project manager, "We are building an integrated environment, based on geospatial technology, that will support the majority of our processes related to managing the distribution network. This integrated environment results in productivity enhancements, due to easy and fast access to the correct information, and leads to a better quality services to our customers. The GRM concept presented by Intergraph aligns completely with our IT strategy of integration, which includes the implementation of the SAP R/3 system on the business side of the company."

RGE selected InService for its outage management capability, enabling RGE to fulfill the regulatory requirements stated by the Brazilian regulatory agency, ANEEL. "We will be integrating our outage management process from the Call-Center to the Operational Center, including trouble analysis, crew management and outage restoration, with on-line information available all the time. The customer will know how long the repair will take from the moment he calls to report an outage, and will be told what actions are being taken in the field. All that information is timestamped in the database, which allows us to report outage statistics at the customer level, as specified by ANEEL," Luz explained.

The InService Suite will be integrated with RGE's Call Center, and Customer Information System to dispatch all service types, including cut/connect and maintenance. RGE recently contracted a new street centerline landbase for all their service area, to support dispatch, routing and address matching in the new system.
