Tobin CEO Introduces Innovations for Land Asset Management

"The Market Leader Showcases Tools for Land Professionals."

Denver, Colorado, March 27, 2000 - Dr Charles Ivey, President and CEO for Tobin International, Ltd., will announce the latest Tobin initiatives for land asset management solutions at the GITA conference. Dr. Ivey will publicize the internal development efforts of four major product advancements – Aqua Trac®, a complete Water Revenue System, Terra Trac®, a complete Tax Assessment System, Tobin Tools® for Land Professional, and T-REX® open data format.

Last year, Tobin International Ltd., long recognized as the leading provider of digital map data, acquired Innovative Business Solutions™ (IBS), leaders in land management software. The combination of the two companies is breaking ground with business tools designed for the age of B2B information technology and integrated solutions. Significant business partner relationships with ESRI™ and Microsoft™ (NASDAQ: "MSFT") support the Internet GIS and platform technologies essential to map-enabled B2B business applications. With a corporate focus on industries that manage land, natural resources and corridors, the latest offerings from Tobin are revolutionizing the data retrieval, mapping and decision support environment.

Key components of the new products and services from Tobin include n-tier architecture for scalability, automation for ease of use, XML integration to link financial systems and web enabled functionality designed for future "business2business" exchange. Going beyond the GIS-enabled management software already in widespread use, Tobin Tools®, TerraTrac and Aqua Trac® all employ Internet GIS technology allowing multiple users at any remote site to work in from a common environment in real time. A single user is automatically linked to every company resource through what is known as a browser client or Web-hosted application.

As an example of the technology, users of Tobin’s Aqua Trac®, which range from County Assessors to City Water Divisions, are presented with a single "jumping off" point to property and Water administration, with complete tax billing and collection and embedded spatial decision support. Aqua Trac® also offers the option of including document imaging components.

The backbone of land asset management solutions from Tobin is a data structure known as T-REX® (Tobin Relational Exchange). T-REX® is the first totally open land and asset data structure. The promising attributes of a platform-independent data structure remove former barriers to e-commerce solutions and the notion of shared data access. According to Dr. Ivey, Tobin set out to revolutionize the heavy client intensive work environment of Energy, Government, Right-of-Way, Mining, and Telecommunication markets with a solution built around the Internet. Allowing participant to transact business more efficiently, enjoy reduced overhead and increased competitive advantage within the most comprehensive portal in the land industry.
