Hallway Exhibitions

In 2012, COSI initiated an effort to improve the visual appeal and experience of our hallways and circulation spaces. With limited funding, we developed a combination of temporary experiences, painting, and permanent exhibit acquisitions. An effort was made to include content that would appeal to adults as well as family groups. The new experiences are planned with a nod to our permanent exhibit areas and grouped in collections as opposed to singular exhibits.

From gorgeous photography to thought-prevoking collections, enjoy these free, limited-engagement displays on your next visit.

COSI's Teen Tech Studio offers multimedia activities for all ages, including audio/video production, 3D modeling/printing, digital art, coding, animation, and video game design. The studio is open, and free, on Wednesdays (3-7pm) and Saturdays (12-5pm).

Using Apple's Logic Pro and Garageband software and audio freeware, COSI's Teen Tech Studio is a fully outfitted audio production space that allows participants to develop their skills in making beats with virtual instruments, using microphones to record voices and acoustic instruments, and taking that audio through the final process of editing and mixing. Teen Tech Studio's video production activities focus on lighting, filming, and editing techniques through the use of professional grade DSLR cameras, green screens, and Abode's Premiere software. Additionally, through the studio's various 3D printers and modeling software, participants can learn to design, construct, and print their own 3-dimensional designs. The Teen Tech Studio also features micro-controller programming/coding, soldering stations, animation, video game consoles, and platforms for game design.

Back To The Moon For Good

In case you haven’t heard, the Moon is trending again… and in a big way. Like in the glory days of the 1960s and 1970s, our big white space neighbor is enjoying the attention of lunar explorers. Only this time, they’re going back to the moon for good. The award-winning 24-minute Google Lunar XPRIZE fulldome planetarium show, Back To The Moon For Good, chronicles teams around the world competing for the largest international incentivized prize in history, by landing a robotic spacecraft on the Moon. To win the $30 million Google Lunar XPRIZE, a team must land a robotic spacecraft on the Moon, navigate 500 meters over the lunar surface, and send video, images and data back to Earth. This global competition is designed to spark imagination and inspire a renewed commitment to space exploration, not by governments or countries – but by the citizens of the world.
