More News From the Devlopment Team
Upgrades for the factbook will be posted on
a regular basis to make it a much more complete learning tool. They
will be supplementing the CIA data with information from several
other sources (e.g., United Nations). Future editions are expected to
contain more information and even simple maps.
From
Michael Pidwirny (fact book developer) ... "We believe that hand-held computers will become increasingly popular,
even in K-12 and higher education. Projections suggest that the sales
of PDAs (personal digital assistants) will double or triple next
year. So why not promote the study of geography on a PDA! Our program
would also make a nice supplement to textbooks covering human
geography, world regional geography and environmental science/studies."
World Geography Factbook 2000 was developed by Donna Senese and Michael
Pidwirny, Department of Geography, Okanagan University
College.
