The History and Application of GIS in Education

This paper focuses on the history and application of Geographic
Information Systems as a tool of data analysis in K-12 Education,
specifically science education. The development of science education into its
current state, the evolution of GIS, and finally the interaction of GIS and
education are also discussed. Historical, practical, and theoretical applications of
GIS in education will be addressed.
