How Long Does It Take To Get A TN-1 Approved?
The TN Visa can be obtained very fast (my first TN took about 1 hour to be approved and simply required
myself and my family to make a trip to a border crossing). This relatively simple process has given
professional Canadians access to the U.S. marketplace.
If applying by mail it will take anywhere from 30-90 days to get final notice (mine took roughly 60 days).
Some things to keep in mind:
- apply no sooner than 4 months prior to your current Visa's expiration date
- apply at least 4 weeks prior to expiration date
- don't worry if you haven't received final approval before your expiration date - you have 240 days to stay in the country
once you've received a confirmation of receipts (INS Form I-797C)
